Wayne Willert
Wayne is an inventor of medical and engineering devices with many patents in the U.S. and internationally. After graduating high school, he trained and worked for his grandfather’s residential construction business which specialized in water leakage consulting and solutions. Early on, he saw a market need for industrial fasteners that could resist loosening through natural wear and tear, leading him to invent and patent a gutter fastener. The Gutter-Bolt®, commercially available today, requires no pre-drilling holes and is designed to resist snapping or loosening during-or-post insertion.
Some years later, Wayne watched a family member suffer medical complications from hip screws loosening post-surgery. Always an innovator, he was inspired to devote hundreds of hours testing, researching (including consulting with orthopedic surgeons) and adapting his fastener designs to bone-screw implant technology. Now patented as well, these medical internal fixators are designed with advantages over predicate bone screws by addressing six typical sources of failure: insertion torque, compression pressure limit, tightening compression, osteointegration, infection and the ability to effectively deliver medicine directly to the site.
Wayne is dedicated to making the OMC’s patented medical screw implants available on a global basis in order to reduce the number of people affected by care-induced illnesses and the need for revisit treatments including orthopedic revision surgery.
